Can a travel agent accept a holiday booking from a 17 year old without parental consent?

Question: Can a travel agent accept a holiday booking from a 17 year old without parental consent?
My son has booked a holiday for him and his friends with a travel agent for a £10 deposit. The holiday is totally unrealistic and we have now established the tour operator does not accept booking from under 18′s. We have tried to cancel but the agent wants £90 per person – is the booking not void as it does not meet the conditions of the holiday firm?

How to become a travel agent without experience?

Question: How to become a travel agent without experience?
I want to become a travel agent but the only positions I’ve found were for experienced agents. So, how does one gain experience in the travel industry if nobody will hire you unless you have experience? It’s a catch 22!!! Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I believe in pursuing dreams but I think you need to honestly think about another choice. The travel industry is dying. Most people (myself included) book our own travel via the internet. There is no need for travel agents anymore unless it’s a highly specialized tour. I have several friends who are experienced travel agents and they can’t get a job. They are looking to change careers.

I’m 23, single, nothing to pay for except auto insurance and cell phone. I feel like this is a prime time to travel and get paid for it since i dont have anything important to take care of.
